Foster Care

Many people have asked me why I do foster care. Here it is. the black and white of it.
I dont know why we do it. What I DO know is that there are a lot of families out there in crisis. with our girls, it was them who was in crisis. we knew we had to do everything possible we could to keep these two safe and give them a better life, and be satisfied that we managed to save 2 of them.
With the boys, it was the parents in crisis. they werent bad parents, really, just parents who lacked skills and knowledge. We knew that even though we would gladly adopt them, they were just staying with us for a short time and would go back with family. We were doing it to give the parents time to get their lives together and re-focus their selfish lifestyle back onto the kids.
With the two we currently have, it is a whole different story. EVERYONE is in crisis, and has been for way too long.
So I guess what I am saying is,
It is hard to have children come and go in your life. It is hard to see them leave and go back into a home that is only under the radar as far as safety goes.
But... we do it to help families.
We do it to help children.
We do it because someone has to.
